Fire-Guard™ is an accredited thatch fire retardant chemical that prevents flame spread on thatch as well as wood. Apply our product by brush, roller, spray and also dip.
Fire-Guard™ is lab tested to an A rating with the propensity to substantially retard fire, and also has self extinguishing properties.
Our accredited thatch fire retardant is SANS 10407 and also European DIN 4102-B1 compliant.
In addition, our certificate complies with SABS testing regulations and is accepted by all insurance companies.
This amazing product is DIY orientated and also very easy to apply!
Fire-Guard™ has very good waterproofing, weather-proofing as well as fire-protecting properties.
Because our product is UV stable and absorbs into the substrate it has a prolonged outdoor life expectancy.
Fire-Guard™ has insecticidal properties making it unattractive to insects as well as birds.

APPLICATION
The surface must be clean and dry, free from dirt, dust as well as grime.
Our accredited thatch fire retardant chemical emits no fumes, thus indoor applications can be done without ventilation equipment.
Apply Fire-Guard™ by brush, roller spray and also dip.
In addition, new thatch grass can be soaked in a bath of Fire-Guard™ for a few minutes before being allowed to dry for an hour.
Wash equipment with water as well as soap if desired.
COVERAGE
Fire-Guard™ covers, from 2 to 7 square meters per liter, depending on the surface type as well as the method of application.
However, on thatch the spread rate is 1 to 4 square meters per liter and for soaking applications use 1,5 to 2 liters per square meter.
HOW TO APPLY FIRE-GUARD™
COMPOSITION
Fire-Guard™ is a low-viscosity, milky blue fluid; furthermore, it dries to a clear finish.
While the product should not be visible or leave any shine when it is dry, our Seal-Bond™ additive can be utilized for a semi-gloss finish.
SUITABLE SURFACES
Thatch roof exteriors
Apply our accredited thatch fire retardant to all thatch types including Cape Reed, Water Reed, Tamboekie Grass, Palm Leaves as well as synthetic thatch grass.
Thatch roof interiors
Fire-Guard™ is also applied to the interior of the thatch and the underside of the eves to insure protection on the inside of the structure.
Poles and supports
Use Fire-Guard™ on the legs, poles, support beams as well as the trusses, purlins and rafters to maximize protection and further reduce fire risk.
Wood and timber
Fire-Guard™ can be applied to wood, timber, MDF, chip board, bamboo, Masonite, mezzanine as well as ply wood.
APPROVED APPLICATORS
